Go further back and you can see what cities looked like before cars:

This is eerie because I used to work in a building in Birmingham where this photo would have been taken from , so it’s like seeing someone you vaguely recognize, but aren’t sure. I know a lot of old downtowns look the same, but still. The smaller buildings change a lot, but the big ones stay pretty static.

Different, but oddly similar:

All different decades had their cues. For the early ‘40s, it was everything going on up front, because everybody’s rear body panels were more or less standardized Budd process, but makers were busy making the jump to integrated fenders and playing with different ideas on where to go with streamlining.

For example, the ‘42 Hudson that appears in this pic looks nothing like a Ford or Chevrolet or Pontiac, but a little bit like a DeSoto or Nash.

I like the 37 Ford.  Hudson might be the newest car in the pic, some of the background cars are close.

I love the 37 tudor in the middle.

All I see is a bunch of tall riding crossovers.

I see at least 50 shades of grey and no pixelization . I love old black and white photos.....

History happened in black and white, didn’t it?
